NHS Foundation Trust Anti-Ligature Room refurbishment.

The Children’s Unit – ‘The Tree House’ is part of the Paediatric Unit at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport. It is a busy facility open 24 hours a day.
Project Scope:
The Anti-ligature room within the Children’s Unit required a complete refit. Anti-ligature rooms are designed to protect the inhabitants from themselves, and the design and fixtures have to conform to specific safety standards.
Standard bathroom fixtures and fittings can pose a risk to a vulnerable child and alternate bathroom products must be sourced to achieve the same function yet provide a safe environment for both patients and staff.
Contract Arrangements:
We have worked with Warden Construction for over eight years and have an MTC in place for this kind of project.
All of our operatives were in possession of CSCS cards, and all RAMS were in place and signed off before work commenced.
Project Challenges:
Working in the heart of a busy hospital required close liaison with the site manager, teams within the NHS Trust and the Estate, to ensure that hospital work was not hampered or disrupted. All work was carried out in a safe manner.
The schedule had to incorporate delays on lead time from equipment suppliers.
