Hospital Emergency Lighting – Stepping Hill

Site

Stepping Hill is Stockport NHS Foundation Trust’s primary hospital, seeing more than 500,000 patients every year. The Meel Group has worked on the site in different capacities for over 30 years.

Contract Arrangement & Scope of works:

Working in a busy Greater Manchester hospital during a global pandemic is one of the most challenging scenarios any trade contractor can face. Stringent lockdown measures meant that on-site safety and diligence were paramount. Our exemplary project and site management skills were critical in delivering the work successfully.

Results:

As Warden Construction’s preferred MTC electrical contractor, we were invited to survey and provide emergency lighting designs and costs for compliance with BS 5266 throughout all areas of the hospital. As a result, we were awarded a number of contracts ranging from £10K to £100K to replace the existing non-compliant lighting systems with new fully compliant self-testing, self-reporting emergency lighting in a phased manner across the estate.

Despite the potentially overwhelming circumstances, our invaluable 50-year industry experience saw completion of works on time and on budget, and to the level of quality demanded by the NHS.
