Boiler house refurbishment for reliability and efficiency.
Site:
Chadderton Medical Practice is situated in Oldham and serves patients in the Chadderton area.
Project Scope:
The boiler house required complete refurbishment to increase its efficiency and reliability, and the hot water cylinder also needed to be replaced. The site is a busy medical practice that had to remain open while we undertook the work.
Contract Arrangements
We won the contract based on Meel Group’s reputation for delivering schemes efficiently on budget. We considered the building’s unique needs and, with the client’s approval, expanded the standard ‘scope of works’ provided. This tailored approach ensured the project aligned with the client’s requirements and expectations.
Project Challenges
The medical centre was in continuous live use, so before refurbishing work could start on the existing boiler room, our Meel Group engineers set up an independent temporary boiler room to supply the centre with heating and hot water. Once up and running, this allowed us to remove the old system and install the new one.
Mechanical Scope of Works:
The scope of works covers the plant room refurbishment of the LTHW and domestic water systems, including the removal of existing plant and BMS controls.
Once the redundant system was removed, we installed a new and highly efficient system. The new system included Remeha boilers, PHX, and Grundfos system pumps. In addition, new pressurization sets and a full BMS system were installed.
Equipment Installed:
- Remeha Boilers
- PHX and Grundfos System Pumps
- Rinnai Water Heaters
All new stainless steel and copper pipework and valves were installed in the plant room, and the redundant cylinder was removed.
New flues were installed on the domestic water heaters and new boilers.

Project Completion:
The project was completed on both schedule and budget. Without any health and safety incidents.
The client was very pleased with the quality of work.
We provided detailed documentation and training for end-users on the operation and maintenance of the updated equipment.
